AI Briefings

Understand how AI-powered project briefings keep your team informed

What are AI Briefings?

AI briefings are automatically generated summaries of your project's current status, blockers, and next steps. They analyze all context updates, commits, PRs, and project activity to create a clear, actionable overview that helps team members quickly understand where things stand without reading through every update.

How AI Briefings Work

Briefings are generated automatically using AI to analyze your project data

Data Collection

The AI analyzes recent context updates, commits, pull requests, work items, and project metadata to understand the current state of your project.

AI Analysis

Advanced AI models process the information to identify patterns, blockers, progress, and actionable next steps.

Automatic Updates

Briefings update automatically whenever new context updates are created, ensuring they always reflect the latest project status.

What Information is Included

Each briefing contains several key sections:

Project Purpose

A clear explanation of what the project is about, derived from the project description and context updates.

Current Status

A 2-4 sentence summary of where the project currently stands, highlighting recent progress and key developments.

Needs Attention

A list of current blockers, risks, or issues that require action. Only active blockers are included—resolved issues are automatically excluded.

Suggested Next Steps

Actionable tasks extracted from context updates, prioritized by importance. Each suggestion includes who mentioned it and when.

Overall Health

A health status indicator that reflects the project's current state: Healthy, At-Risk, or Needs Intervention.

Understanding Health Status

The AI determines project health based on activity patterns and content analysis

Healthy

Regular updates, clear progress, and no major blockers. The project is on track and moving forward smoothly.

At-Risk

Infrequent updates, vague progress, or minor blockers mentioned. The project may need more attention or clearer communication.

Needs Intervention

No recent updates (more than 7 days), explicit blockers, or concerning patterns. Immediate action may be required.

How Briefings Update Automatically

Triggered by Updates

Whenever a new context update is created (via web app, Chrome extension, or GitHub integration), the briefing automatically regenerates within a few seconds.

Temporal Awareness

The AI prioritizes newer information over older updates. If an issue is mentioned as resolved in a recent update, it won't appear in "Needs Attention" even if it was mentioned earlier.

Smart Filtering

The AI focuses on active work items and recent updates, ignoring completed or archived items to keep briefings relevant and actionable.

Interpreting Briefings

Read the Current Status First

Start with the current status section to get a quick overview of where things stand. This is the most up-to-date summary of project progress.

Check Needs Attention

Review any items in "Needs Attention" to identify blockers or risks that need immediate action. If this section is empty, there are no active blockers.

Review Suggested Next Steps

The suggested next steps are extracted from context updates and prioritized. Each includes context about who mentioned it and when, helping you understand the source.

Monitor Health Status

The overall health indicator gives you a quick sense of project status. If it shows "Needs Intervention", review recent updates to understand what's happening.

Best Practices for Better Briefings

  • Create regular context updates. More updates lead to more accurate and detailed briefings.
  • Be specific in your updates. Mention blockers explicitly (e.g., "blocked on API changes") so the AI can identify them.
  • Update when blockers are resolved. Use words like "fixed", "resolved", or "completed" so the AI knows to remove them from "Needs Attention".
  • Link GitHub repositories to projects. Commits and PRs automatically become context that improves briefing quality.
  • Use tags in updates. Tags like "blocker" or "milestone" help the AI categorize and prioritize information.
