Create Updates
Keep your team aligned with context updates
What are Context Updates?
Context updates are messages you post to a project to share progress, blockers, decisions, or any important information. These updates are automatically summarized in the project's AI briefing, helping everyone stay informed without reading through every message.
How to Create an Update
Navigate to a Project
Open the project you want to update from your Projects page
Find the Update Form
Look for the update form at the top of the project page, usually in the Updates tab or section
Write Your Update
Use the rich text editor to write your update. You can format text, add links, and structure your message
Add Links and Tags (Optional)
Attach relevant resources and add tags to help organize and categorize your update
Post Update
Click "Post Update" to publish. Your update will appear in the project timeline and be included in the AI briefing
Update Features
What you can include in your updates
Rich Text Content
Write your update using a rich text editor. You can format text with bold, italic, lists, and more. The content can be up to 5,000 characters long.
Attach Resources
Link to resources that are already in your project. You can attach URL work items that have been added to the project, making it easy to reference relevant links, documents, or tools.
Note: You can only attach resources that are already part of the project. To add new resources, add them to the project first, then attach them to your update.
Tags
Add tags to categorize your updates. Tags help organize updates and make them easier to find. You can:
- Add up to 10 tags per update
- Each tag can be up to 30 characters
- Use tags like "blocker", "progress", "decision", etc.
- Tags are searchable and filterable
Best Practices
Be Clear and Concise
Write updates that are easy to understand. Focus on what's important: progress made, blockers encountered, decisions made, or questions that need answers.
Update Regularly
Regular updates keep the AI briefing accurate and help your team stay informed. Even brief updates are valuable.
Use Tags Strategically
Consistent tagging helps organize updates and makes it easier to find information later. Consider using tags like "blocker", "milestone", "decision", or "question".
Link to Resources
When referencing documents, tools, or other resources, attach them to your update. This makes it easy for team members to access what they need.
Include Context
Provide enough context so team members understand what you're working on, even if they haven't been following the project closely.
How Updates are Used
Project Timeline
All updates appear in chronological order on the project's Updates tab, creating a timeline of project activity.
AI Briefing
Updates are automatically analyzed and summarized in the project's AI briefing, helping team members quickly understand project status without reading every update.
Team Notifications
Team members can see new updates in their activity feed and stay informed about project progress.
